Contact Details of Trekking Guides in Himalayas

Hiking alone may not always be the best option, especially when you are in an unknown territory for a Multi-day hike. A trekking guide can help you in many ways from cooking for you, picking up your luggage while you are busy in photography, Rescue man in case of emergencies, he may get you in touch with local traditions/culture very well.

"It boosts the local economy, They are dependent on us"

Though I have always preferred to hike Independent, there have been times when I had to hire the services of a guide and that proved the best option for me. Here I am putting up a few contact details of trekking guides I or my friends have been with, This may also serve as a local contact of someone wants to get an emergency rescue. List shall be updated with every new contact I come across, so please do give your valuable comments and reviews on these people and new contacts are welcome so that we can add them to this list. :)

Kareri Lake and other Dhauladhar Treks
1. Satish, Kareri village
    Contact - +91 9805360438
He was my course mate during Mountaineering Course in Manali. He has also worked for Regional Mountaineering centre, Dharamshala. This guy can be trusted for his instincts and has hiked several times to Lam dal, Kareri Lake, and Indrahar pass. I would say he specialises in these treks. We have trusted him for almost all the treks in Dhauladhar and is recommended.

2. Parshottam, Kareri Village
   Contact - +91 9736986581, +91 9736821270
I have myself hiked with him during my Feb, 2016 Kareri Lake trek. He is a good guide, and would perform well if given a situation of rescue and knows the area well. He claims to have done some prominent dhauladhar passes like Indrahar pass, Minkiani Pass & Jalsu pass. But I will prefer the above option (Satish). if both are available.

Kailash kund and Sarthal Treks

1. Jaswant Singh, Lawang (Bani)
    Contact - +91 8491878571 ; +91 7051123249
I had trekked with him to Kailash Kund in May-2017 when it was frozen to its depth. We had also hiked around Sarthal to explore few viewpoints. The guy can be trusted for his skills, and knows the area well. He is a young yet ambitious lad from village of lawang who loves to hike solo to random peaks and meadows around his town and Probably the only option available in whole Sarthal and Bani.

Dalhousie Region Treks
1. Laalu (Jot Pass, Chamba)

Photo Not Available.

Contact - +91 9805074017
I had trekked with him to Dainkund from Jot in december, 2020. The route was completely snow laden and he opened the route for us despite the soft snow. He communicates well and understand English. He also knows the area very well and is an experienced guide.
He is young and ambitious and is keen to explore new routes.
If the above mentioned contact does not work, you can contact the Hill Top Hotel at Jot and they may have his contact. (That is how I booked him).
